Episode 8: Nick Addison on the building blocks of Blockchain and Ag

I am sure you have all heard the term 'blockchain'. Conferences and articles are sprouting up everywhere. Fintech startups and banks talking about it. But what does it mean for Australian agriculture?

New technologies can be scary, or easily written off, when they're not well understood. But though blockchain technology development is still in its infancy, it's already being used in the agriculture industry here in Australia: AgriDigital’s blockchain-enabled digital supply chain and commodity management solution is a global leader in the development and deployment of working blockchain solutions.

In this episode, we interview Nick Addison, CTO at AgriDigital. Nick is a recognised blockchain industry leader within Australia, where he is regular speaker and educator. Nick is also an active member of Fintech Australia, and represents them on Standard Australia’s Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (IT-041) Technical Committee.

We discuss all of this (at an admittedly noisy café- sorry!), as well as cover off blockchain 101: what is a blockchain in its simplest form, and what does it mean for Agriculture now and in the future.
